朋友，你认识创新吗?
创新其实是一个梦想。
中国古代曾有一个人，背负纸做的翅膀，义无反顾地纵身跳下高高的山崖，希冀像鸟儿一样飞翔在晴空。在粉身碎骨跳下的一瞬间，他是否隐约看到了碧空中可以自由翱翔的飞机?
英国有一位作家，在他一生的作品中，尽情幻想，将热气球、潜水艇、电报提前了几十、甚至几百年带入我们的生活。在凡尔纳下笔的一刹那，他是否已经预先看到了遥远的未来?
梦想标示着丰富的想象力，想象力为创新提供源泉。创新从梦想中蜕变，以梦想为根，受梦想浇灌。像永不失天真的爱因斯坦吹出的肥皂泡，在空冥的大地上，不断破灭又不断上升。
创新需要怀疑与批判。
怀疑是创新的萌芽，批判是创新的成长。在怀疑中发现错误，在批判中改正错误，创新才能完成。然而怀疑的精神、批判的勇气，人们为之付出了太多太多。
1543年的春天，人们震惊了，一个人，他居然宣称地球是围绕太阳转的。上帝啊!让这个人不得好死。人们肆意地嘲笑，诅咒。

我们都知道，阿基米德在洗澡时发现了浮力定律，成就了科学史上的一段美谈。可是我们是否还记得曹冲称象的故事?那可爱的孩子也不自觉地运用着浮力定律。然而，后者只被当成一个睡前故事流传于孩子们的枕边，前者却孕育了物理学的一个基本原理。
有时候，创新并不是很难，说不准什么时候，一个思想的火花闪过，创新就来到眼前。可火花不能长久，创新却要求永恒。于是创新要求深刻的思考，追求本质的东西，要求我们更进一步地去挖掘它具有的创新意识。
然而挖掘不是最难，最难的是那意识的产生。你一定游过泳，一定玩过水，你一定感受到过水的压力，但你能说，你可以造出浮力定律吗?甚至你敢说，会想到用水来称象吗?恐怕不敢吧?生活中许多事情就是这样，在你经历时，就已触摸到创新的边缘了，然而我们却没有那个观念，有意识地将创新完成。
作为大学生，我们的知识仍然贫乏，也许我们不能有多少伟大的具体的创新。但是我们一定要培养我们的创新意识。这意识中包含着许多内容。首先，我们要学会梦想，学会不为现实堵塞我们的天真，不时地做一做童年的梦，想一想飞上火星的浪漫，想一想生活于外太空的美妙。不要只盯着别墅、跑车，做物质的奴隶。然后，让我们学会怀疑与批判。不要吓倒在老师那威严的面孔下，不要认为凡是印成了铅字的东西就是真理。昆德拉说：“人类一思考，上帝就发笑。”相信自己，坚持怀疑，敢于批判，不惧权威，方显英雄本色。再次，让我们深沉一下，稳重一点，不妨压抑一下青春的律动，多思考一些东西，多研究一些学问，不要有了一个奇特的创意，一个未闻的发现就妄自高兴，而到实践时却束手无策。最后也是最重要的，就是要培养自己的创新意识，尤其是对专业中新事物的敏感度。伦琴因为一张被感光了的底片，意识到X射线的存在，最终获得第一届诺贝尔奖，牛顿因为一只落下的苹果而发现万有引力。他们对于专业的敏锐，是我们在学习中真正要掌握到手的知识。
认识创新。“认”是一个认知，明白其表象的过程;而“识”是一个理解，探索其本质含义的过程。认识创新，我们不仅仅要“认”，更重要的是要“识”。

I'd like to share with you a discovery that I made a few months ago while writing an article for Italian Wired. I always keep my thesaurus handy whenever I'm writing anything, but I'd already finished editing the piece, and I realized that I had never once in my life looked up the word "disabled" to see what I'd find.
Let me read you the entry. "Disabled, adjective: crippled, helpless, useless, wrecked, stalled, maimed, wounded, mangled, lame, mutilated, run-down, worn-out, weakened, impotent, castrated, paralyzed, handicapped, senile, decrepit, laid-up, done-up, done-for, done-in cracked-up, counted-out; see also hurt, useless and weak. Antonyms, healthy, strong, capable." I was reading this list out loud to a friend and at first was laughing, it was so ludicrous, but I'd just gotten past "mangled," and my voice broke, and I had to stop and collect myself from the emotional shock and impact that the assault from these words unleashed.
You know, of course, this is my raggedy old thesaurus so I'm thinking this must be an ancient print date, right? But, in fact, the print date was the early 1980s, when I would have been starting primary school and forming an understanding of myself outside the family unit and as related to the other kids and the world around me. And, needless to say, thank God I wasn't using a thesaurus back then. I mean, from this entry, it would seem that I was born into a world that perceived someone like me to have nothing positive whatsoever going for them, when in fact, today I'm celebrated for the opportunities and adventures my life has procured.
So, I immediately went to look up the 20__ online edition, expecting to find a revision worth noting. Here's the updated version of this entry. Unfortunately, it's not much better. I find the last two words under "Near Antonyms," particularly unsettling: "whole" and "wholesome."
So, it's not just about the words. It's what we believe about people when we name them with these words. It's about the values behind the words, and how we construct those values. Our language affects our thinking and how we view the world and how we view other people. In fact, many ancient societies, including the Greeks and the Romans, believed that to utter a curse verbally was so powerful, because to say the thing out loud brought it into existence. So, what reality do we want to call into existence: a person who is limited, or a person who's empowered? By casually doing something as simple as naming a person, a child, we might be putting lids and casting shadows on their power. Wouldn't we want to open doors for them instead?
One such person who opened doors for me was my childhood doctor at the A.I. duPont Institute in Wilmington, Delaware. His name was Dr. Pizzutillo, an Italian American, whose name, apparently, was too difficult for most Americans to pronounce, so he went by Dr. P. And Dr. P always wore really colorful bow ties and had the very perfect disposition to work with children.
I loved almost everything about my time spent at this hospital, with the exception of my physical therapy sessions. I had to do what seemed like innumerable repetitions of exercises with these thick, elastic bands -- different colors, you know -- to help build up my leg muscles, and I hated these bands more than anything -- I hated them, had names for them. I hated them. And, you know, I was already bargaining, as a five year-old child, with Dr. P to try to get out of doing these exercises, unsuccessfully, of course. And, one day, he came in to my session -- exhaustive and unforgiving, these sessions -- and he said to me, "Wow. Aimee, you are such a strong and powerful little girl, I think you're going to break one of those bands. When you do break it, I'm going to give you a hundred bucks."
Now, of course, this was a simple ploy on Dr. P's part to get me to do the exercises I didn't want to do before the prospect of being the richest five-year-old in the second floor ward, but what he effectively did for me was reshape an awful daily occurrence into a new and promising experience for me. And I have to wonder today to what extent his vision and his declaration of me as a strong and powerful little girl shaped my own view of myself as an inherently strong, powerful and athletic person well into the future.
This is an example of how adults in positions of power can ignite the power of a child. But, in the previous instances of those thesaurus entries, our language isn't allowing us to evolve into the reality that we would all want, the possibility of an individual to see themselves as capable. Our language hasn't caught up with the changes in our society, many of which have been brought about by technology. Certainly, from a medical standpoint, my legs, laser surgery for vision impairment, titanium knees and hip replacements for aging bodies that are allowing people to more fully engage with their abilities, and move beyond the limits that nature has imposed on them -- not to mention social networking platforms allow people to self-identify, to claim their own descriptions of themselves, so they can go align with global groups of their own choosing. So, perhaps technology is revealing more clearly to us now what has always been a truth: that everyone has something rare and powerful to offer our society, and that the human ability to adapt is our greatest asset.

In order to prevent enemies out of China. Each dynasty added to the wall's height and lenght. It didn't reach 6400 kilometers long until Min Dynasty. Now the Great Wall is a world-famous tourist attraction. It's the symbol of the wisdom of the ancient Chinese.

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day,while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
frankly speaking,i don’t quite agree with them.indeed,we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions.(examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand,some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful,such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world,the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations,but we are the citizens of the same world,so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture?the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.

Well, its almost 20xx and I want to begin by wishing everybody in Britain a very happy NewYear.
For the Green Party, were looking forward with optimism, confidence and determination. 20xx was a huge year for us. We saw our membership more than triple. We saw 1.1 millionvotes in the General Election, more than four times more votes than weve ever won before. Wesaw the return of Caroline Lucas as our brilliant Green MP.
So 20xx – this is the year in which we need to turn the Green surge into Green votes andthats what were determined to do. What we need to do is, up and down the country, providepeople with the real alternative. And that is what we are doing.
Because so many people, up and down the country, when we look at the local council electionsthat are coming up, are facing local government thats totally, or almost, a one-party state.They are finding that theyre not having the tough questions asked. The local council isntgetting the scrutiny it needs.
So, sure, local councils are suffering enormously under the governments hideous program ofausterity, but we should always be asking: Can they do better? Can they look after particularlythe more vulnerable in their community better? Can they do a better job with their localenvironment?
So, in the Council elections, were looking to really grow our number of Green councillors acrossEngland and Wales.
And then weve got the assembly elections in Wales and in London. And these are the chancewhere we can significantly grow our representation, win our first assembly members in Wales inwhat are fair proportional elections, in which people can be sure that their vote counts. If youvote for what you believe in, you can get it.
And of course, our sister party up in Scotland is looking forward with real confidence andenthusiasm to the Scottish Parliament elections there.
What we want, one of the things we need to be getting out of 20xx, is the same kind ofelections, fair proportional elections all around the county, particularly to Westminster and ofcourse getting rid of our un-elected House of Lords.
It was in 1918 when women got the vote. That was the last time we saw significant reform inthe Westminster Parliament.
Now, it really is time for us to think again, look again, plan again, and get real change in ourdemocracy. To get to a situation where people know that their vote counts, they dont have tomake complicated calculations about what other people are going to vote, they can simplyvote for what they want and get it.
Thats what I would urge everyone to make a resolution for 20xx. To do your bit towardselectoral reform. It is, after all, our human right to have a fair democracy that reflects ourpolitical will. And of course, in 20xx, were also going to have to be defending our human rights.Human Rights Act is under attack from our government and we need to stand up and defendit.
So a new year, new possibilities. Weve got a government that doesnt have a mandate for thehideous austerity that its imposing, for the disastrous environmental policies, for its threatsto our human rights.
This government only won the support of 24% of eligible voters. Thats no kind of mandate.
Lets pledge in 20xx to ensure that we make real progress toward the real change we need, apolitical system that works for the common good, not just for the few of the richest and apolitical system that delivers a society where were living within our environmental limits.
And after all, at the end of the day, thats not politics, its physics. We have to do it. We have tohave real change in Britain.

Let me explain with a bit of amateurneuroscience. Every second, your eyes can send your visual cortex as manyas two billion pieces of information. The rest of your body can send your brainonly an additional billion. So sight is one third of your brain by volume andcan claim about two thirds of your brain's processing resources. It's nosurprise then that the illusion of sight is so compelling. But make no mistakeabout it: sight is an illusion.

Here's where it gets interesting. To createthe experience of sight, your brain references your conceptual understanding ofthe world, other knowledge, your memories, opinions, emotions, mentalattention. All of these things and far more are linked in your brain to yoursight. These linkages work both ways, and usually occur subconsciously. So for example, what you see impacts how you feel, and the way you feel can literally change what you see.

Psychologists have a greatterm for it: awfulizing.

Blindness meant Iwould live an unremarkable life, small and sad, and likely alone. I knew it.This was a fiction born of my fears, but I believed it. It was a lie, but itwas my reality, just like those backwards-swimming fish in little Dorothy'smind. If I had not confronted the reality of my fear, I would have lived it. Iam certain of that.

Today we get together to have the graduation ceremony and say farewell to the graduated students of 20xx. Firstly, be determined to return to and serve for society, and diligent to enrich lives. “Work creates wealth and diligence changes lives.” Whatever life path is and whatever careers you choose, we need to stick to your dream, face up to the fact with healthy mind and confront lives with positive attitude. We had better closely combine your dream with the fate of our country and the interests of our nation. We need to constantly shorten the distance between ideal and fact during the ordeal of your diligent work. Based on the facts, we need to do things from trivial stuffs and endeavor to pursuit excellence and create first-class in our ordinary jobs.
